We Believe
As Episcopalians, we believe in and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We believe that God loves all people – no exceptions. The Episcopal Church embraces a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; people of all genders and sexual orientations serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy work together in leadership and governance. The core to our Beliefs is the Book of Common Prayer, a treasure chest full of devotional and teaching resources and the primary symbol of our unity. We, who are many and diverse, come together in Christ through our worship, our common prayer.

Maybe some of you wonder why we write Saviour and not Savior ... to those the response is simple and linked to the history of the church that is Anglican, and that is why the English spelling prevailed.
Our church is part of the Anglican Communion a global fellowship of churches, originating from the Church of England, that share a common heritage, traditions, and a commitment to the teachings of the Bible, with over 80 million members in 44 regional and national member churches in more than 160 countries.

Robin Williams, a long-time Episcopalian, gave us the following Top 10 List of Reasons for Being an Episcopalian. I have this same list on a favorite t-shirt! Of course, the list makes us laugh (which is a sacred thing in and of itself), but it also presents us with encouraging truths about our particular way of following Christ. Thank you, once again, Robin for your wit and insight.

9. You can believe in dinosaurs.
8. Male and female God created them; male and female we ordain them.
7. You don’t have to check your brains at the door.
6. Pew aerobics.

3. All of the pageantry – none of the guilt.
