St. Martha’s Guild The Church of the Saviour’s St. Martha’s Guild is a group for women that meets once a month for spiritual and social growth.
Started in 1955 and still going strong today, St Martha’s Guild is open to all the women of the parish. We are a group of women aiming to meet the spiritual, social, economic and service needs of our members, the parish and community. The group meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month (exceptions June, July and August). Some of the activities of the Guild are vendor/craft fairs, bake sales, rummage sales, Italian Cooking night at Caffe Navona, Elegant Afternoon Tea and Breakfast Bistro.
St. John's Boonton Lunch Ministry In September 2022, St. John’s in Boonton, asked if we would like to participate in ministry that they resurrecting post-pandemic. This ministry provides a hot, nutritious meal plus dessert every Saturday at noon to anyone who needed it. Remembering the fellowship and camaraderie of making and serving dinner at Family Promise, we said “YES.” We picked the 3rd Saturday of every month and began in October. We start at 11:30 am and feed between 11-15 people, and are done by 1 pm. We found it to be a rewarding and important ministry. Feeding people from Boonton, and surrounding areas, is a way for us to fulfill our desire to be present in our local communities and let people know that we are here for them. We are always looking for people who can help cook the food and/or serve the food.
Faith Kitchen The Faith Kitchen, first established in 1983, is located at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dover and provides a hot meal 6 days a week, free of charge, to anyone who enters and is in need of nourishment and/or social support services. Twenty-two areas churches – all denominations – take turns participating in this daily meal preparation and service. The number of patrons who eat at Faith Kitchen currently ranges from 70-100 people each day. Our church members continue to be extremely supportive of this monthly mission. Thanks to our very generous congregation, we have been able to collect enough funds each month to purchase the necessary ingredients for each casserole. We have been blessed with plenty of volunteers who stick around after church once a month to pitch in with the cooking and cleaning. Our close connection with Faith Kitchen allows us occasional opportunities to actually participate in the meal service to the patrons. On Easter Monday of 2015, a small group from our church prepared and served a meal at Faith Kitchen, and it was a wonderful experience of fellowship for all. In 2016 and beyond, we hope to continue to have special church groups convene at Trinity Church to actually prepare and serve a meal on site. Our church's support is vital to the continued growth and success of this wonderful mission.
Denville Adopt A Family Program Once again, the Church of the Saviour generously supported Denville Social Services’ Adopt A Family Program through our Giving Tree and Parish Christmas Card. The congregation’s enthusiastic participation was inspiring! A needy family of five from the local community experienced a very special Christmas this year, which would not have been possible without the generosity of many.
