 Under a cold rain, by a dark night, my bell rang.
My wife and I were ready to eat a soup and our pets were dozing. The bell brought me to the door. When I opened I saw George our priest and a group of young girls and boys from our church; all standing in half a circle and I heard “Merry Christmas” sung by them. George had a great smile. They gave me a nice gift beautifully wrapped. Suddenly one said: “we have to go”! And as flight of sparrows, they disappeared in the night… I was very moved. Very. This visit was the perfect illustration of what Advent is: being prepared to receive the coming of Jesus. In your dark night (I am fighting cancer) you need to open your heart, your door to receive the good news. The Joy of it will bring hope for your whole life for ever. When was the last time I had tears of joy… Thank you George, thank you all, girls and boys, for this gift of hope. May the stars shining in the sky of your night speak about this “coming” for ever.
